Our Faith Theme 2020/21

“Lead with Compassion…. and you will be bearers of hope in this world.”

On World Youth Day 2020 Pope Francis spoke to the young people about being missionary disciples. “Young man, I say to you, arise!” is the 2020 theme taken from Luke’s Gospel; and 2021 features the biblical text taken from the Acts of the Apostles: “Stand up. I appoint you as a witness of what you have seen”.

Each day our students are recognizing the problems in the world around them and they are searching for ways to fix it. Now, more than ever, we need to remind our students that the bible has the answers to this, and gives us a map of how to proceed. Colossians 3:12, “Therefore, as God’s choice, holy and loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”

The second part of Pope Francis’ message was that the youth need to have a compassionate heart. Pope Francis said, “If you can learn to weep with those who are weeping, you will find true happiness. So many of your contemporaries are disadvantaged and victims of violence and persecution. Let their wounds become your own, and you will be bearers of hope in this world.”
