Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is mourning the loss of a former colleague. Sister Mary Eileen McEachern (formerly Sister Mary Noella), a Sister of St. Martha of Antigonish passed away this past weekend at the age of 92.
She spent time in the Fort McMurray Catholic Schools family in the late 1970s and early 1980s teaching and as our Coordinator of Religious Education.
Among her many honours Sister Mary Eileen was inducted into the St. Francis Xavier University Hall of Thought. The citation for this recognition stated, “Her devotion to social justice and equality has been the hallmark of her life.”
