Prayers for Saskatchewan

God of healing, God of mercy, we come to you in sorrow in the wake of the horrific attacks that took place in Saskatchewan. Welcome into your arms the victims of this tragedy and comfort those who grieve.

In your son, Jesus, you encountered the full spectrum of human suffering. You understand anguish, anger, and despair. Loving God, send your Spirit to strengthen and console the families of those we have lost, specifically those of James Smith Cree Nation and Weldon. Embrace those whose hearts overflow with pain, unanswered questions, and grief.

We pray also for those who are troubled and feel the need to turn to violence. Help them to see the heartache that would be caused by their actions and lead them instead to seek help.

Finally, we pray for the agencies that responded to this tragedy and those who will work with victims and families in its aftermath. May they channel your love, comfort, and peace, O Lord, and support them through their sorrow.

Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
