Extension of Virtual Learning

May 4, 2021

Attention Fort McMurray Catholic School families,

As you are most likely aware, the Government of Alberta announced further restrictions and additional public health measures in our fight against COVID-19.

These measures include the shift of all schools in Alberta to virtual learning, with a scheduled return to in class learning now of May 25, 2021.

As you are aware, we are already learning virtually in our Division. This will be an extension of at home learning for all grades until May 25th, 2021.

Please note:

  • As you are aware, every teacher has set up an online presence to support students while at home. If you need additional support logging into Google Classroom please connect with your teacher.
  • Our Specialized Services Programs (Independent Living Programs at Holy Trinity Catholic High School and Father Beauregard School, Vocational Education at Father Mercredi, and our Junior Transition Program at St Gabriel School) will continue in class.
  • There are no changes to programming to our Sacred Heart outreach program.
  • There are no changes to programming in our Virtual Learning Academy.

The health and safety of our staff, students and community is paramount. We know this news can be distressing for families and supports are available

Thank you for your continued support.

George McGuigan, Fort McMurray Catholic Schools Superintendent
