Ecole St Paul- Variant of Concern Case

December 12, 2021

Good afternoon École St Paul School families,

We are reaching out to our families this afternoon to share an update on COVID-19 in our school community. We do so out of a continued abundance of caution and transparency.

Earlier today we received a notice from Alberta Health Services that a COVID-19 case in relation to our school may potentially carry the new Omicron variant. This would be the second likely variant case at Ecole St Paul School in December. We can share with you both cases have been in the same class.

The class and staff who had direct contact with the individual who tested positive have already been notified.

Please see this letter from Alberta Health Services for more information.

As you have been previously made aware, we have organized a rapid testing program in conjunction with Alberta Health Services, Alberta Health, and Alberta Education. Please reach out to your teacher if you would like tests and haven’t received them already.

For more information on the rapid testing program please look at these resources:

We wish to remind you these rapid tests are only for those who do not have any symptoms of COVID-19 and this is a purely voluntary program.

We continue to remind families to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 using the Alberta Health Screening Questionnaire. Please remember to complete the checklist each day prior to attending school. If you or a member of your family has any of the symptoms of illness listed, please fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811.
