Ecole St Paul COVID-19 Notification Variant of Concern

December 5, 2021

Good evening École St Paul School families,

We reach out to our families this evening to share an update on COVID-19 in our school community. We do so out of an abundance of caution and transparency.

Earlier today we received a notice from Alberta Health Services that a COVID-19 case in relation to our school may potentially carry the new Omicron variant. Lab sequencing will be happening immediately, but we have been informed this process could take up to 7 days.

The class and staff who had direct contact with the individual who tested positive have already been notified.

Please see this letter from Alberta Health Services for more information.

We have organized a rapid testing program in conjunction with Alberta Health Services, Alberta Health, and Alberta Education. We have completed the process to order rapid test kits for all students and staff at École St Paul and we expect they will arrive shortly.

For more information on the rapid testing program please look at these resources:

We wish to remind you these rapid tests are only for those who do not have any symptoms of COVID-19 and this is a purely voluntary program.

We continue to remind families to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 using the Alberta Health Screening Questionnaire. Please remember to complete the checklist each day prior to attending school. If you or a member of your family has any of the symptoms of illness listed, please fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811.

Sincerely,

Claudette Fidler,   École St Paul School Principal

George McGuigan,    Fort McMurray Catholic School Division Superintendent
