Trustee Cormier
My name is Cherie Cormier and I am pleased and honored to have been elected to serve as a Catholic School trustee within the Fort McMurray Catholic Schools.
I have lived in Fort McMurray for 24 years and have two daughters who graduated through our Catholic School system; one in French Immersion and the other in English.
I have been involved in the school system for many years as an employee (worked as the Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools and as a school secretary at both Fr. Turcotte and St. Anne Schools) and as a parent at St. Anne, St. Paul and Fr. Mercredi Community High School.
I have been excited to be involved with:

- President of Fort McMurray Canadian Cancer Society
- Board of Director, Alberta/NWT Canadian Cancer Society
- Girl Guides of Canada
- St. Paul School Council
- 2004 Alberta Winter Games
My personal mandate as a Catholic School trustee is to ensure that students are prepared for the challenges facing them in the 21st century. I believe it is important to work in partnership with teachers, parents and our community partners to ensure the Fort McMurray Catholic Schools continues to be a leading school district in innovation and collaborative partnerships within the region and around the Province.
I love being invited to the schools to attend events and meeting students and parents. It is the students, parents and teachers who are the backbone of our school system and together we can work to ensure the continued success of our faith based school system.
