T4 Tax Form
What is a T4 tax form?
If you are a salaried employee, the T4-Statement of Remuneration is used by your employer to indicate what you have been paid before deductions, as well as your contributions made to the Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Employment Insurance (EI) as well as other amounts deducted from your pay cheque during the tax year. Income from pensions, annuities and other type of income will be reported on a T4A tax form.
When will I receive my T4?
T4 (Statement of Remuneration Paid) will be sent to employees on or before the last day of February following the calendar year to which the slips apply. T4 will be emailed to current employees in the same manner as the pay statements. Former employees will have their T4 mailed to their last know address.
Why is the amount in Box 14 of my T4 different from my annual salary?
In addition to salary, all taxable benefits are added to the income reported in box 14. For example, the Life Insurance Premiums paid by the Board are considered a taxable benefit under the Income Tax Regulations.
Why did I get more than one T4?
Some staff will receive more than one T4. If you receive more than one e-mail, they are not duplicate messages, you need to print all the T4s you received and add them up when preparing your income tax return.
