French Immersion

French Immersion programming is offered in Fort McMurray Catholic Schools from Premier Pas to Grade 12.  Programming is offered at Ecole St Paul and Ecole Secondaire Sainte Trinité.

Students also have the opportunity to receive French proficiency diplomas.  Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is the only District in North-Eastern Alberta to offer these types of exams and diplomas.  Within their educational career, students are able to receive 4 DELF diplomas, ranging in levels from A1 (beginner) to B2 (independent).  These diplomas are recognized internationally as a standard measure in French proficiency.

***Middle French Immersion intake has been suspended for the 2017/18 school year. The Fort McMurray Catholic Board of Education will revisit this programming option in the spring of 2018.
The program suspension for 2017/18 is due to the current uncertainty in our region. Following the wildfire of 2016 student enrolment has reduced by approximately 6%. We are still recovering as a community and with the uncertainty in regards to the economy, Middle French Immersion is not a program we can offer at this time.
