Early Entry Program

OVERVIEW EARLY ENTRY

Our Early Entry program is a language rich program that focuses on learning through play where children interact, explore, and make sense of the world around them.  The program is delivered in a small classroom setting, allowing the learning team to address the unique learning needs of the children.  The Early Entry program runs from September to June.  All of our elementary schools offer 3-hour, half-day programs, both morning and afternoon.

Each Early Entry programs:

Is lead by a Certificated Teacher

Allow kids to learn through play

Integrates the fine arts

Is faith based

Provides Rich oral language opportunities

Includes Family Orientated Programming Opportunities (Parent Evenings)

Is supported by a multi-disciplinary team that includes:  Early Learning Consultants, Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists and Psychologists

FAMILY ORIENTATED PROGRAMING

Family Orientated Programming (FOP) is offered throughout the school year free of charge to parents/caregivers and children who are attending our early learning programs.  FOPs enhance children’s learning, and give families support in key developmental areas.  Families are invited to meet with our team’s Speech-Language, Physical and Occupational Therapists for fun interactive workshops.  They have the opportunity to learn ways to incorporate early literacy skills into everyday routines through books, songs, rhymes and games.  There also are informative workshops to explore positive strategies for parenting your child.

EARLY ENTRY REGISTRATION PROCESS

To be eligible for Early Entry (Pre-Kindergarten), your child must be three years, six months old on or before September 1st of the school year.

Early Entry registrations for the 2012/2013 school years are now being accepted at all district elementary schools.  Registration fee for the year is $75, the remaining program is paid for through Alberta Education.

If you would like to register your child for a program you will be asked to provide a government issued proof of your child’s name, date of birth and citizenship such as Birth Certificate, Canadian Citizenship or Immigration Certificate or Passport.

EARLY ENTRY TRANSPORTATION

For safety reasons, transportation for our Early Learning Programs is provided by the parents.

Transportation services may be made available for students requiring specialized transportation arrangements. The Director of Student Services, in consultation with the Principal and the Secretary-Treasurer, will determine the need and type of transportation required for both temporary and long term medical condition students. The school is responsible for informing the driver of the medical conditions of the students.
